Poudre Pub Talk: Putting the "Ecosystem" into Ecosystem Services @ Green Earth Brewing | Greeley | Colorado | United States

As part of an on-going series, the Poudre Heritage Alliance presents monthly educational pub talks at local establishments throughout Northern Colorado. For the August 13th Pub Talk at Green Earth Brewing, two professors from the University of Northern Colorado–Dr. Chelsie Romulo and Dr. Sharon Bywater Reyes–will be discussing the importance of water conservation, specifically how flow regimes and water management affect riparian areas and how water can be managed for multiple uses. They will be highlighting how we can use an understanding of ecosystem processes to make good (or bad!) water management decisions.

Dr. Sharon Bywater-Reyes studies how riparian vegetation and rivers work together to shape what rivers look like and how they function. She has been with the Earth and Atmospheric Sciences Department at the University of Northern Colorado since 2017. Dr. Chelsie Romulo studies how to use natural resources sustainability and specifically what works for balancing environmental, economic, and social equity objectives. Her work includes global analyses of drinking water systems for large cities. She is a professor with the Department of Geography, GIS, and Sustainability at University of Northern Colorado.

If you are interested in attending, please RSVP via Facebook by clicking here. Green Earth Brewing will be offering beer specials during the night of the pub talk, with proceeds from the evening benefiting the Cache la Poudre River National Heritage Area. Thanks so much for your support!

The Poudre Heritage Alliance’s FREE Poudre Pub Talks series occurs regularly at locations across Northern Colorado, featuring guest speakers talking about a range of subjects related to “good water.” For the full Pub Talk listing, go here.
